Cut-off Timings

When your transaction actually gets processed often depends on what time of day you submit it. Quick reference for the common cut-offs.

Mutual funds — NAV applicability

TransactionCut-off timeNAV applied
Equity/debt funds — purchase (non-liquid)3:00 PMSame day, if funds are realized by cut-off; next business day otherwise
Liquid/overnight funds — purchase1:30 PMPrevious day's NAV if funds realized before cut-off
Redemption (most fund categories)3:00 PMSame day if submitted before cut-off, else next business day

These are the general SEBI-mandated cut-offs; some AMCs' own platforms apply a slightly earlier internal cut-off to guarantee same-day processing — check your specific fund house or platform.

Bank transfers

RailAvailability
UPI24×7×365, instant
IMPS24×7×365, instant
NEFT24×7×365 since December 2019 (half-hourly batches)
RTGS24×7×365 since December 2020, real-time

All four major transfer rails now run round the clock, including weekends and holidays — there's no meaningful "bank transfer cut-off" left for domestic transfers, only per-transaction processing time (instant for UPI/IMPS/RTGS, up to ~30 minutes batching for NEFT).
